      Installed 1.2 RC1:

WAN - connected to a T1 (Static IP) onboard SIS
LAN - connected to local area network Netgear NIC
OPT1 - connected to Comcast Business Cable (Static IP) Netgear NIC

      Hardware:

      Athlon XP 1800+
      512MB Ram
      32GB Hard Drive

Got everything up and running, including the Dual WAN.

Two and a half issues have arised:

      1. I tried using the Comcast DNS ip addresses as the monitor IP and I also tried a router that is only 2 hops away (both addresses are pingable). The problem is that pfsense marks the comcast down quite frequently, even though the connection is up and running. Not sure if this is latency related but it would definitely be nice if the frequency of the monitoring or the monitoring counts could be set as the interface is brought back quite quickly after it goes down (so I am assuming by increasing the test count we could avoid the downtime, as this causes many problems with various users on the net).

      2. The machine reboots out of the blue (about every hour). I assume I will be told that it is hardware related (to which I want to say it was my desktop machine here with Windows XP and Debian Linux and was always able to run the machine for a full day of work and under load without any reboots).

2 1/2. Just an observation that load balancing is not quite useful in our office environment, as too many network applications seem to have issues with it and we end up directing specific traffic over one of the lines (from ssh, to imap, to pop, to smtp, to IM's, etc.). We have found the same being true with other products that offer load balancing, so more of the nature of these apps not being too happy).

I have now put our old hardware router in place and put a linux live cd in that pc hardware I was using for pfsense and it has been up for the last 4 hours (even with maxing out network transfer over either nic to see if that would cause the crash).

I hope to be able to figure out what is going on as overall I really like the product.
Won't be able to put it back into production (to be able to do an external syslog) for a few days.

      Thanks

      BH

Just wanted to add a picture of a load balancer that has the options to set the various frequencies for the healthchecks so that you get a better idea on what I was trying to say.

Also for the crashing it is still occuring with the RC2 and I have enabled logging to a syslog server but it is not showing anything related to the reboot.

The longest it went without rebooting is about hours, while the shortest was about 45 minutes.

I also replaced the two netgear network cards with a dual 3com card and it rebooted after being up 8 hours.

Any hints and/or help would truly be appreciated.

        Thanks

        BH
