      pfsense (I've tried versions 1.01, 1.2-RC1, 1.2-RC2) was installed onto a 2.5" hardrive from a desktop's cdrom.

      (I also tried 3 different harddrives to make sure they weren't bad disks.)

      I moved the 2.5" harddrive into the Soekris net5501 and booted.

      The following is typical of all the installs…...........................

      I did find this on an earlier post…..

      @sullrich:

      Setup the BIOS so the nics are not sharing the Hard Disks IRQ.

      The Soekris net5501's bios will not let me control the IRQs

      Any ideas / fixes would be appreciated.

        I cancelled trying to use a 2.5" harddrive and installed
        "pfSense-1.2-RC2-Embedded.img" onto a 1 GB CF disk.

        This appears to be the only way to get the net5501 to work.

        So far, so good….

          I started testing the 433 MHz 256 MB version with the vpn1411 encryption card today with the 1.2RC2 embedded on a 256 MB CF card. So far, everything is flawless, and it is much faster than the old 266 MHz 128 MB versions. I'll test it out on a few VPN connections over the next few days and let you know how it goes.

            ...

            ===============================

            http://www.soekris.com/Software/changelog.txt

            ===============================

            ...

            ===============================

            I have yet to try this new ComBIOS version with a harddrive.
