Weird error, sis0 error when trying to set up LAN

I have installed the latest pfsesne on a PII 500 and 256mb ram. I bought 2 new Intell 10/100/1000 Cards to use as well. Everythign went fine in the install, and I am running pfsense off the hard drive in the computer. When it comes to setting up the adapters I use auto config and it detects both em1 and em0 for LAN/WAN etc.
When the trouble starts is when I go into LAN setup, assing a LAN IP, subnet mask (I choose 24 for 255.255.255.0) and then it tries to write, but says something about ifconfig: sis0 interface does not exist!!
I press ok and it says http://192.168.1.1/24 to try and enter, but DHCP doesn't work and I can't access the web gui when I assing a static IP temporarily.
Any advice on what I should do?

Do you have an onboard SIS network adapter?, that seems very strange as they are being detected correctly (em0 & em1), you could always manually configure then try again, also drop down to the shell menu and do a "ifconfig" and see if sis0 shows up.

Slam:
the computer is an older IBM 300PL. It has an Integrated Intel 10/100 Mbit, PCI Ethernet controller, but I have disabled it in the BIOS. Would pfsesne still recognize the unit though?
I will give it another try tomorro and do what you suggested.

sis0 is the default LAN adapter. If it's trying to configure sis0, you must not have saved your interface assignments. I'd go through the assign interfaces again.
