Make skype play nice with pfsense
-
Hi,
I need to make skype play nice with pfsense when used for transfering files.
At the moment when we transfer a file it runs at 3KB/s thats not very good.
On skype website there is a page that says this is because of the firewall. Here is the link
http://support.skype.com/index.php?_a=knowledgebase&_j=questiondetails&_i=125I have nearly 50 users and pfsense is setup using a dual wan with load balancing
Any help with this would be aprecated
Thanks

Not much information your providing http://forum.pfsense.org/index.php/topic,7001.0.html
But if i was using skype i would let it out on it's own port on wan1 and see what happens

Hi,
Thanks for the reply. I was thinking of doing the same thing as what you said, the only difference will be that I will use WAN2. My WAN1 connection is used for other things like https :)
The thing that I'm a bit concerned about is opening up a port to the lan just so that skype can transfer its files. I feel like its leaving a massive hole in the firewall.
Here is my current setup
I'm using pfSense-1.2-RC3-Embedded_________ line1--modem---WAN1=PPPOE---| | | PFSENSE |--LAN Line2--Cheap router---OPT1--|_________| | WLAN
I hope that's the type of info you were after.
