That would mean it's an pfsense issue???

Taken from the just released m0n0wall beta today:

          • added vr(4) driver VLAN fix (for ALIX etc.)

Looks like it's fixable in the driver.

It's a driver issue, we likely won't fix it in 1.2 because we're too close to release. After that change gets tested with the new m0n0wall release and we do more of our own testing, we'll release an updated 1.2 including this driver change.

It would be nice if this could be fixed in 1.2

Is it very hard to fix, as it already works with m0n0wall?

You underestimate the difficulty of making kernel changes during the final days of a release?  We are extremely close to releasing 1.2 now.  Changing these things would guarantee we need to release another RC.  Or two.

And when do you think that the issue will be fixed?

                  Thanks.

ok i'll put it in other words.

It wont be in the 1.2 release because the changes to include it in 1.2 would be too big.
The 1.2 Version will come soon.

After 1.2 is out there will be snapshots and new betas in which the vlan function is included again.
These following snapshots/betas are to test if the changes are stable and working properly.

if you are looking for exact dates then you will be disappointed because there has never been and probably never will be an announcement of an exact time of the next releases.

                          hi,

i just got my alix board and i want to use it with vdsl. i really need vlan tagging because otherwise my vdsl-modem won't 'speak' to the router (pfsense).

can you give me a small hint, how to fix vlan tagging myself? :)
i just built pfsense from scratch to support multicast. so i guess patching the driver won't be so hard?

                          thanks in advance!

                          bye

Since the 1.2 release was delayed for unrelated reasons, and in the mean time the kernel patch has gotten testing in m0n0wall beta releases, we're going to add this to the final 1.2 RC and release coming soon.
