      Contemplating switching from smoothwall to pfsense – does pfsense include both squid cache and also squid stats (to show how many hits, bytes saved, etc. by the squid cache)?

        Yes, but it is run from the command line.  I haven't tried it via the webGUI (there is a command box where you can issue custom commands and see the output), but I know you can run something like this from the shell.

          Just installed pfsense and then found the packages for squid (the actual caching proxy) and lightsquid (GUI reports)

          Really liking pfsense so far :)
