Cannot upgrade 1.0.1 to 1.2 Final

I'm trying to upgrade a pfsense (x86) box running 1.0.1 to 1.2 final, through webgui, but the upgrade fails.
After 30 secs the webgui is not accessible and i have to restart it and the upgrade is not done.
The box continues to run with 1.0.1. Also there is not a console upgrade option in 1.0.1 menu.
How can i perform this upgrade?

I can confirm that I am having the same issues with a PC Engines WRAP 1e203 (http://www.pcengines.ch/wrap1e203.htm). I have tried the installation twice, and both times it has bombed out. The router continues to function, but the WebGUI is dead. On a side note, the work around provided above does not work as we are still on 1.0.1. Any thoughts would be suggested.

The workaround above works with any version. However for embeddeds I recommend a reflash.
