I am getting this error in snort
snort[1824]: FATAL ERROR: Failed to Lock PID File "/var/run//snort_em0.pid" for PID "1824"
snort[1824]: FATAL ERROR: Failed to Lock PID File "/var/run//snort_em0.pid" for PID "1824"and its not showing any alert or blocking

Try to hit save on snort-> settings. It should reload fine.

You should update to v 1.5

Serialdie and Toxicon what version of PFsense are you using.
Make sure snort2c is running if you want to block hosts.
