ADSL on OPT1
-
Hi Folks
I just wanted to confirm what I had to set my OPT1 interface to in order to use ADSL on that interface. Is it DHCP?
I've set my Billion 7300 up to do PPPoE and use PPPoE Relay.
I've tried DHCP on the OPT1 interface but It does not get the IP, I see this
Status up
DHCP up
MAC address 00:04:23:a5:ea:c0
IP address 0.0.0.0
Subnet mask 255.0.0.0
Gateway 10.20.20.214 <======= THAT's The Correct gateway for the ADSL
Media 100baseTX <full-duplex>In/out packets 110/155 (7 KB/40 KB)
In/out errors 0/0
Collisions 0Then after a minute or so I see this
Status up
DHCP up
MAC address 00:04:23:a5:ea:c0
Gateway 192.168.1.254
Media 100baseTX <full-duplex>In/out packets 110/163 (7 KB/42 KB)
In/out errors 0/0
Collisions 0I'm seeing this in the system log

Is the Billion 7300 DHCP setup correctly? What happens if you connect a pc to it. Do you then get an ip?
-
I have turned off DHCP on the LAN, do I need to turn it on?
When I turn it on it hands out an IP address from the LAN. i.e my LAN IP on the 7300 is 10.0.0.1 and the DHCP range is 10.0.0.100 - 200
Won't I get one of those IP's?
UPDATE.
I turned on DHCP and all I got was my OPT1 interface got 10.0.0.100 as it's interface IP and 10.0.0.1 as the gateway, which is the LAN IP of the Modem. What am I doing wrong?

Hmmmm Unless I'm totally on the wrong track it sound right.
internet –--- wan Billion with gateway 10.20.20.214 -----------lan Billion ip 10.0.0.1-----------opt1 pfSense
On my wag200
DHCP Server 192.168.101.10 - 192.168.101.20 (wireless clients)
DMZ IP 192.168.101.100On my pfSense opt1
Static
IP 192.168.101.100/24
Gateway 192.168.101.1
Tick "Disable the userland FTP-Proxy application" -
What is seems like is that the PPPoE is not passing on the WAN IP to PFSense, or PFSense can't seem to pick it up.
SO far all I can do is a double NAT setup. I do have that working.
I really only plan on using this link for Web access, what are the implication of doing a double NAT?
