I had the same exact problem with the same package. Fixed it by going to /usr/local/pkg/ I made a dir called test in / then I moved all fo the squidguard xml files over to it. went back to packages installed and it was still there. so I told it to reinstall package (squidguard).
it reloaded the package and once it tried to load the gui it went back to loading instructions and locked up there. Then I went back to the console and typed pkg_delete squidGuard-1.2.0_1 . And the package is now completely gone. This process should fix the problem.

Once Again, Apparently PFSense is more a toy, than a serious firewall, on we can trust!

I can't find any sense, and/or coherence on this hack. Only plaiyng arround with a toy, one can arrive to such a crazy way to be able to remove a package…

A toy? Gee thats funny!! Goes to show your level of expertise with pfsense and BSD in general. If you can't trust or for better word understand this firewall and the method to correct the problem you are having, then I strongly suggest you use something else. I've been using this firewall and M0n0wall in multiple production environments for a few years now and they havent failed me yet. BTW dont bite the hald that tries to help you.

That is a bug that has been corrected. All software contains bugs, you know. Anyhoo, I suggest you switch to IPCOP immediately.

Keeping in mind that this is a guy who claimed that he had a solution for blocking all P2P applications using a combination of like 5 different (and completely unrelated packages). Feel free to check out his posting history. It's special. IPCop might be too challenging for him.
