      Hello everyone,

      Is there a way to configure pfsense to send me an email (every 12 hours for instance) telling me what is my current IP (PPPoE obtained)?

      Thanks for your help

      Regards,

      Fred

        Why not use the Dynamic DNS feature to update a hostname (from the likes of dyndns.org) when your IP changes?

          Thank you for such a prompt answer Cry Havok.
          I thought of this but here's the problem:

          PC ===> pfSense ===> VPN server ===> Internet

          Every outgoing connection goes through the vpn server so when ddclient/ez-ipupdate make there request to find out my ip they always get the VPN server ip, not the one assign from my ISP.
          There is a possiblity to configure the ddclient.conf file to get the IP address from the status page provided by the router. So I'm also trying that;
          something like this for instance:

          use=linksys, fw=linksys, fw-login=admin, fw-password=admin

          By the way I need to know my IP to make use of remote softwares (VNC…)

          Regards,

          Fred

            You're nearly there  ;)

            It can be configured so it gets your WAN IP from a page like http://www.vinch.be/tools/myip/ (www.dyndns.com offer even a better one).

            No "help me" PM's please. Use the forum, the community will thank you.
            Edit : and where are the logs ??

              Yes, but http://www.vinch.be/tools/myip/ or equivalent will show my WAN IP which is the VPN IP not my ISP ip  ;D

              … meaning getting with the help of ddclient my (ISP) IP through pfSense.

                Does your PPoE device support DynDNS?

                I've had success with custom DDClient config entries before.  It just takes a little tuning to get it right.

                  Sweet, Dynamic dns works.
                  Thank you all for your input.

                  Regards,

                  Fred
