Network card limitation
-
Hi,
I'm trying to put together a more advanced gateway system my network. But I'm having some problems.
Inside the machine I've got one single port network card and two quad port network cards.
Now one of the quad cards was detected and now 1 port woks as LAN and port 2 works as WAN, 3 is OPT1 4 is OPT2 and the single card is OPT3 But I can't seem to be able to add the second quad card after the OPT3 card (I've included a screen shot).
Is there some sort of restriction on how many network cards can be inserted? Or does this mean that the other card is not functioning as it should and how can I check this. I've already checked via SSH #ifconfig -a and it only shows me the single and quad cards. Thanks for any information and help.
Nice day to all

disable as much you can in bios audio, gameport etc
Moving around the cards might also help. If you unsure about one card then remove the 2 others and boot from the livecd -
Ok thank you.
I'll try moving the card around one slot up or down. There is no sound card or modem only an embedded graphic card.
If I have any problems or questions I'll report back.
Thanks again.
Bye

You can also try pfSense based on FreeBSD 6.3 (the current release, 1.2 is based on FreeBSD 6.2). FreeBSD 6.3 often supports newer hardware a lot better than FreeBSD 6.2.
