Nano on a watchguard
-
I have installed the old embedded pf sense on two watchguards x700 and x750 and they work perfectly. embedded 1.2.3 de embedded on 128MB cf card that was in the x750.
I bought an 8GB CF card and downloaded the latest 4GB nano snapshot and burnt this to the card.
The x750 doesn't appear to like this. the wee screen just says booting OS.. and there is no console output.
I didn't have much time this morning to do anything further to check and didn't get rount to trying the x700
Has anyone else tried nano on a watchguard?
I think that either
1, the new card is to big for the WG interface. will burn the old embedded system onto the card as the old one is working fine on a 128MB card.
2, The WG Bios doesn't like the dual boot thingy - not sure what to do if this is the case as there is not going to be a suitable bios update for the WBAny ideas? ???

It may have the same problem that the WRAPs have, where they require "nopacket" mode on the image for it to boot properly. Do you have another FreeBSD or pfSense system around?
If so, plug that card into a reader hooked to that system and see what device it is (probably da0) then run this:
boot0cfg -o nopacket /dev/da0
Then replace the card in the watchguard box and try it again.
Even when the WRAP is booted that way, it can only boot the first slice, so upgrades won't work properly. It's something to try though.
