    hi,

i've found a lot of information about how to make a (hardware)raid-controller work. so my question is, if there's any native support for soft-raids in pfsense or generally in freebsd. coming from linux i'm searching for something like 'mdadm' or similar. is there any chance to get a raid working without an hardware raid controller ?

    thx, martin.

There is in FreeBSD, take a look at gmirror.

Be aware that this isn't a supported pfSense feature - you may render your box unbootable.  I'd strongly advise that you take the time to test it out on a non-production host (or VMWare).

Dru Lavigne's article is old, but still the best I've seen covering adding gmirror to an existing install.

I've verified it works fine on 1.2, but haven't done extensive testing or had to swap a drive out yet.
It is, as previously mentioned, not supported.
