Dell OptiPlex NX1
-
Hi everyone!
This is my first post on the forum, even though I've been using pfSense for a couple of months now. This is my hardware:
Dell OptiPlex NX1 [BIOS A10]
P3 @ 550MHz
256MB RAM
3GB HDD [will soon be replaced by a CF - I just didn't have the time to do it…]
The OptiPlex has a 3Com EtherLink XL on board, so I found an identical card on PCI.The machine works like a charm, it's small, quiet [single 80mm / 800rpm fan] and hasn't disappointed me at all.
The only thing that I couldn't get started was the LCDProc package - I have a couple of 4x20 LPT displays that work just fine on my other machines, but on this one the service doesn't start. I don't really know much about BSD, so I'm pretty much out of my element here. Does anyone have a suggestion? Also, if this is the wrong place for the question, I'll move it.
Apart for this little snag, the machine works just great. I have about 10 workstations and 2 servers behind it, traffic shaping works great, I get the max out of my connection [20Mbit down / 2Mbit up], so I'm happy as a clam :D _Anyway, thanks for all the efforts in building and maintaining this project - it's valuable work you do.
Cheers from .ro ;)
btw, I've attached my dmesg if anyone's interested.

Thanks for the link :D
I just measured the power draw from the wall socket - 30W average :| [peaks at around 40W when I do some heavy traffic, but only for a few seconds]. So that's good :D
Any ideas on the LCDProc package?
