      Hi all -

I am running 1.2.2 on an old Thinkpad T41 - it's been working beautifully for the past year or so.  I have a need to replace my existing 10/100 cardbus NIC with one that can do GigE, but I am having a difficult time trying to figure out what to purchase.  I've looked through the HCL and the pickings are woefully slim when it comes to wired cardbus / pcmcia adapters that do GigE (not looking for wireless).  Unless I am missing something, I can't find a single one at all on the list.  I was hoping maybe someone could point one out from personal experience.

      Thanks

Depending on the version, Cardbus maxes out significantly below Gbit speeds, removing the incentive to create Gbit cardbus cards.  Given how rare they are I'm not surprised they aren't on the HCL.

That said, given that Cardbus is effectively PCI you may find that one with the same chipset as a working PCI card works, but it may not - better to borrow one to test with ;)

          Thanks for the reply.

Good point you make there, hadn't thought about that.  It's starting to look like it will take a lot of effort to get this ole Thinkpad up to speed, and I might be better off just starting with new hardware.
