Saw it on freshmeat and it seems pretty identical(besides language) to pfsense

Interesting link. That's how the BSD license works. If you read the introduction on their homepage, they clearly indicate that their product is derived from pfsense. So, they seem to comply with the license and everything is ok.

This was discussed on the list a while back. It's fine for them to do so.
They still have the demo system online, and didn't lock it down nearly well enough (several possibilities for running arbitrary commands as root). There's a reason we don't have a live demo online, pfSense isn't intended for scenarios where you're handing out your root password to the entire world.
