Carp Sync Issues

Everytime i try syncing i get

Code 801: Authentication Failure

i checked the password and they match up and I checked that the account swhere left default

i followed the tutorial and its still getting this error

please help

ive noticed this aswell

when i set the sync hardware ips to be

primary -> 10.1.0.1 /24
secondary -> 10.1.0.2 /24

i get the http://10.1.0.2:80  Code 801 : Authentication Failure

if i set them to

primary -> 10.1.0.1 /32
secondary -> 10.1.0.2 /32

communications error occured while attempting XMLRPC sync with username admin  http://10.1.0.2:80
