Downgrading from 1.22 to 1.2
-
We upgraded our 1.2 pfsense to 1.22 and it caused all sorts of weird problems that as of right now or BUGS .
What is involved to downgrading back to 1.2 . We do have the 1.2 config saved. Do we have to do a reinstall or can we use the firmware upgrade method to downgrade?
-
You'll probably have to do a re-install.
-
You can use the upgrade mechanisms to downgrade, but how about reporting the problems you're seeing? Aside from possible hardware-specific FreeBSD regressions that are outside our control, there is only one known issue with bridging VLANs.

I upgraded from 1.2 to 1.22 and now I have network problems.
1. The built in Realtek card (Asus P5VD2-VM motherboard with RTL8110SC) shows up as UP but does not actually work.
2. A replacement Intel Pro 100 (which worked fine on 1.2) keeps giving timeout errors. It works fine for 40 minutes or so and then it times out.
3. A compaq card (tl driver) which to my recollection worked fine on 1.2 comes up but gives underrun errors. -
You might be one of them.
I'm curious if the newer FreeBSD in 1.2.3 snapshots changes
anything, but recommend approaching it with caution as the change to
7.1 isn't widely tested yet. I know 7.1 has fixed hardware regressions
from 6.2 to 7.0 for multiple people, and there are many people running
it without problems, but still approach with caution at this point. -
Maybe. I had a spare drive so I put 1.2 on that one am back in business.
I only updated to 1.2.2 to see if it would fix an issue with tcpdump but I rather have a working system than a working tcpdump with no internet access!BTW I installed 1.2.2 blindly coz I could not find any release notes anywhere. I am noob so maybe I am looking in the wrong place…

If you current 1.2.2 setup is broken, it wouldn't change must upgrading to 1.2.3 :)
