Has anybody ever tried to get BIND running on pfSense? It seems like it wouldn't be too much work, and the pkg_add worked fine (I think), but I have a couple of problems:

      1. I can't figure out where the config/zone files are
      2. I'm not sure how to start named from RC

The reason that I want this is that TinyDNS can't perform RFC2136 registration of DHCP addresses. Any suggestion that accomodates RFC2136 fits me fine!

      Thanks in advance,
      Dave

I have it running for quite some time,
now it is runing on  1.2-RELEASE.

It was initially installed through pkg_add.
Config file is in /usr/local/etc/named.conf and zone files are in /var/named
I use the following in my /etc/rc

        …

        Start BIND

        echo "Starting BIND..."
        /usr/local/sbin/named
        echo "done."

        echo "Bootup complete"
        ...

I am using it for split dns config, dont know if tinydns can do the same thing I would like to switch to it if it is possible?
