NC364T 4 port Card
-
Hi!
I've two HP dl 160g5. The onboard ethernet cards HP NC7782 are not supported by freebsd 6.x or 7 so I'd like to add one HP NC364T PCI Express Quad-Port Gigabit Server Adapter. Anyone is using this card with pfsense? I think it's an Intel chipset so it should work.
How can I be sure that it will work?
Thanks

Best way to find out if it will work, aside from finding someone else who had tried to get these cards running, is to find out the chipset used on the card.
That being said, a google search for 'NC364T chipset' turns up a link on the HP web site that says it's based on the Intel 82571EB chipset. Searching for 'freebsd 7 82571EB' turns up info that says yes it will work (supported by em) as of FreeBSD 7/pfSense 1.2.1.

The NC364T is based on the Intel 82571, from the HP spec sheet. This chip is supported by FreeBSD's em driver, so I see no reason for it not to work.
The NC7782 isn't explicitly listed, but it contains a Broadcom 5704, which is listed on the bge manpage as a supported chip and it should work (though the Intel chip is still better). Have you tested it and found it not to work?
