I just switched over from running pfsense on an old laptop, to a via epia m board.

When the system boots it hangs at ad2: TIMEOUT - WRITE retrying

Im using a hitachi 4gb microdrive. and an ebay'd CF to ide adapter.

Never used a CF or microdrive for pfsense.

Really need to get this running :(  Don't have anything to run in the meantime.

      Thanks

I should add, Ive tried both of my hitachi drives. I'm going to try a diffrent CF adapter tonight.

I tested the drives on another box and didn't have any issues installing XP.

You probably need to disable DMA.

You do need to disable DMA, this is what I id with 1.2

FYI though, 2.0rc does not install on microdrives with CF adapters and just bombs with geom errors :(
