      Hi,

I guess this is addressed somewhere but I didn't find a dead on match so..

When I try to enable squidGuard it doesn't start and prompts:

_The following input errors were detected:

      * (B1) BLACKLIST 'ads' error: file '/var/db/squidGuard/ads' not found
          * (B1) BLACKLIST 'aggressive' error: file '/var/db/squidGuard/aggressive' not found
          * (B1) BLACKLIST 'audio-video' error: file '/var/db/squidGuard/audio-video' not found
          * (B1) BLACKLIST 'drugs' error: file '/var/db/squidGuard/drugs' not found
          * (B1) BLACKLIST 'gambling' error: file '/var/db/squidGuard/gambling' not found
          * (B1) BLACKLIST 'hacking' error: file '/var/db/squidGuard/hacking' not found
          * (B1) BLACKLIST 'mail' error: file '/var/db/squidGuard/mail' not found
          * (B1) BLACKLIST 'porn' error: file '/var/db/squidGuard/porn' not found
          * (B1) BLACKLIST 'proxy' error: file '/var/db/squidGuard/proxy' not found
          * (B1) BLACKLIST 'violence' error: file '/var/db/squidGuard/violence' not found
          * (B1) BLACKLIST 'warez' error: file '/var/db/squidGuard/warez' not found_

This is prompted even though the check box for enabling squidGuard on General settings tab is NOT checked (=hence one would think it didn't care about any blacklists in place or not).

So, do I have to put blacklist files in there even though I'm note using them?

      TIA,

On your Squid "Proxy Server: General Settings" page there is a box that says "Custom Options". In that box what does it say?
        For instance mine says:
        "redirect_program /usr/local/bin/squidGuard -c /usr/local/etc/squidGuard/squidGuard.conf;redirector_bypass on;redirect_children 3"
If there is anything in there delete it and squidGuard for sure won't be called.

Otto, probably first you configure SG on inplaced blacklist, and after download other blacklist ?
You must go to Default and to the each ACL and reconfigure and save (then Apply).

          • If you change blacklist type(source) to other, you must check all Acl's - Becose selected Dest rules already deleted and replaced by new dest-rules from new blacklist.

ps This is one, why i can't add 'autoupdate blacklist'.

It looked like the contents of that box is added and removed dynamically when I enable squidGuard. As it should be I suppose.
I did try to use squidguard initially to filter only a few domains added manually under 'destinations'.

Ok then… I'll have to do some more testing it seems. I have tested adding the blacklist from 'shalla' and loading that and ticking the 'use blacklist' box made the previous errors go away. I did however initially not want the blacklist feature to be used - I tried to add domain to be filtered manuall - but maybe I misunderstodd something.

I have tested 2 different blacklists and tried to re-save default and ACL but I cannot get the service to start now. I see no errors though.
I'll try to read up on links provided in other threads then...

              Thanks,
