Maintenance or bad news: login: login on console as root

Hi,
since setting up pfsense and seeing how great it works, I have not really paid much attention to it. Today, we had some connectivity issues and I checked the lock files and my heart almost stopped for a second. Every day, once or twice, I see a messase "login: login on console as root" in the logfiles. Nobody has been logging in from my team, so this is either some maintenance script running in the background or someone from the outside.
Any idea where this is coming from? Any hint would be appreciated!
