I think they look really good. Maybe a little too much Intel in the shape of the red curve, but very professional and good looking. I think I prefer 'filtered', but 'protected' is maybe a little more client friendly. Very nice, and considering the prices, if you were selling these at cost I might buy some just for kicks and stick them on my installs.

        Yes they look nice :)
If you actually buy them i'd definitly take some too.

As ktims said: protected sound maybe better for a broad audience.
Or maybe something along the lines of: "shielded", "secured" or "locked".

          Ok - Good!

This is a serious proposal! I do intend to get at least one batch run up to test the quality.

I first went for 'Installed' so that this sticker could be stuck on the firewall its-self. But then I thought if I went for protected, filtered or what ever then they could be stuck on the servers pfsense was protecting as well, as a sort of advertising thing.

I went for an Intel look so that the stickers wont look out of place stuck on a branded Intel server but if 'we' all think it may cause the dev's too much grief (if Intel can actually brand the shape of a sticker, and do actually give a toss) I may tweak it a little. I mean its not like pfSence manufacture CPU's in competition with Intel, if anything pfSense/freebsd promotes Intel products over others.

Mail from Intel European Legal Department on a request for clarification.

              Thank you for your enquiry.

Intel will not approve the use of a logo that bears a resemblance to any of its intellectual property, if it is designed to ‘not look out of place’ next to our badge then it will cause confusion that a product is owned or affiliated with Intel. We would request that you amend your proposed logo to one which would compliment our badge as opposed to bearing a resemblance to it.

Once again, thank you for asking.

              Best regards
              Victoria

I kind of like the look of these new ones with the rounded top and bottom. With a little red border around the top half on one of the last two examples, it would almost look like a padlock, adding to the security theme.

As nice as the Intel logo ones look, sometimes it is better to stand out - in a good way - than blend in.  :)

I would certainly be interested. I build and install ALIX based firewalls and and at the moment there is nothing on the ALIX´s cases at all. This sticker would give them a much more professional finish.

I´m not really bothered by the shape, and agree with the suggestion that standing out is better than blending in.

Keep us posted of your progress.

                    it will cause confusion

I'd really like to meet one of these people that get "confused" in situations like this. There must be a whole underclass in society, wandering around in state of utter confusion, unable to make sense of things that may look like other things.

You have to appreciate the risks - imagine what would happen if they're allowed into corporate comms/server rooms and they see a sticker for "pfsense" that is just TOO MUCH LIKE AN INTEL STICKER.

                    Think of the children.

This is very funny - It tickled me  :)

I haven't given up on this, I was getting bogged down in the detail particualy how round the top and bottom should be or how fat or tall it should be. So I thought if I leave it for a bit when I come back to it - it would leap out at me….

You could also go with the Microsoft sticker style rather than Intel.  It worked pretty well for Ubuntu and resulted in some nice looking stickers: http://ubuntu.wordpress.com/2006/08/12/free-powered-by-ubuntu-stickers/

This is the sticker/badge I'm gunna get made up as a dummy run, it will be 16mm x 20mm - unless anyone can think of any show stoppers.

The first batch will be of 250.
