      Hi Folks –

The 2.0-alpha-alpha developer ISOs use a serial console for the install dialog, but the 2.0-alpha-alpha live-cd ISOs use the VGA console (FreeBSD_RELENG_8_0 is the only developer ISO I checked).

Just curious if this is intended?  I know the embedded images use a serial console.

I couldn't find any mention of needing a serial console on the http://devwiki.pfsense.org/DevelopersBootStrapAndDevIso/ page.  May be a good thing to add, as it took me a while to realize the ISO was not hanging at boot, but I just needed to look at the serial line.

      regards, ......... Charlie

That's not intentional. The devs were aware that it wasn't booting properly, but I'm not sure they knew this was the issue, I'll pass it along.

I think they may have already fixed this though:

Have you tried a more recent dev iso?

Only two developers ISOs I've ever tried:
          http://snapshots.pfsense.org/FreeBSD_RELENG_8_0/pfSense_HEAD/livecd_installer/pfSense-Developers-2.0-ALPHA-ALPHA-20090523-0539.iso.gz, and
          http://snapshots.pfsense.org/FreeBSD_RELENG_8_0/pfSense_HEAD/livecd_installer/pfSense-Developers-2.0-ALPHA-ALPHA-20090522-1218.iso.gz

So by the timestamps, looks like the commit is in is in the first one but not the second.  No change though, both point to the serial console.

          regards, …... Charlie
