      I seem to be having a little problem with streaming audio through my Squid Proxy.

      About twice a second you can hear a "Blip" or a pause in streaming audio. Turning off Squid resolves this.

      I have been looking for a solution, without having to add the streaming audio sites on a bypass list.

      I've tried increasing:

      kern.ipc.nmbclusters=32768
      kern.maxfiles=65536
      kern.maxfilesperproc=32768
      net.inet.ip.portrange.last=65535

      as per http://forum.pfsense.org/index.php/topic,7186.0.html

      It hasn't made a difference.

      Any help would be appreciated.
      Thanks

          I'm having the exact same problem.  I have 3 radio stations that are streaming.  We recently upgraded one of our firewalls running squid as a transparent proxy to CentOS.  That's when I started noticing the problems.  I have firewalls that are still FC4 running Squid 2.5.STABLE13-1 that don't have the problem.  However, it seems anything newer than that has the problem.  I'm having the problem on a Cent-OS 5.3 box running Squid 2.6.STABLE21-3 and a FC6 box running Squid 2.6.STABLE13-1.

          I would settle for putting our sites on a bypass list, but haven't figured that part out yet.  Here are our streaming urls if you want to check them out:

          wcic-sc.streamguys.us
          wbgl-sc.streamguys.us
          wibi-sc.streamguys.us

          Thanks for any help!

              If you really want to upgrade from 2.5 then use 2.7 and use this.
              But this will degrade your squid performance.

              # Don't upgrade ShoutCast responses to HTTP
              acl shoutcast rep_header X-HTTP09-First-Line ^ICY.[0-9]
              upgrade_http0.9 deny shoutcast

              But if you really want to do this on pfsense I can provide you.

                The "blip" is caused by shoutcast title updates. (only when streaming through tcp port 80)
                Turning off shoutcast titles (winAMP) works, like a charm.
                Other shoutcasts at other tcp ports work fine even with shoutcast titles enabled.

                  Good afternoon
                  Works fine here. Im in Davao City.

                  wcic-sc.streamguys.us
                  wbgl-sc.streamguys.us
                  wibi-sc.streamguys.us

                  btw, thanks for the radio station :)
                  Do you knwo some discovery channel radio?I dont have cable so better listen to their radio and see if squid works too.

                  You can try setup traffic shaper then set it to priority HTTP
