      Hi guys!
I'm looking for a box that would push through up to 30-50Mbps IPSec VPN (30-40 3DES/MD5 tunnels)
Would I be able to do this with this box?

Why don't you build your own that has double the specs for half the price?

Take a look at my SuperMicro box I made: http://www.tomschaefer.org/web/wordpress/?p=255
I initally used it for running IPCop but the router likes pfsense better :)

By the way if you do go this route the E5200 is not compatable. This router cost me around $400 and its a beast capable of your requirements and way more!

While I enjoy building boxes from parts, some people don't, and it generally involves more headaches than getting a pre-built system. If you are building them for customers, the time fiddling with parts is not worth it IMO. It's also easier to get hardware support from a single vendor.

FWIW, an Alix with a VPN1411 will push ~40Mbps 3DES. I benchmarked a box with a 1.3G mobile processor at close to 50Mbps 3DES, so a 1.2 might be in the ballpark. If you can use AES, it will be much faster.

The problem is that I can't use AES at the moment, it is not supported on the remote routers.
This router would be sitting in co-lo so I need something with a warranty :)
