Can someone verify that this setup is possible

I want stick a pfSense box between two cisco switches.  The link between the two switches is a dot1q trunk.  I want to keep the trunk but use pfSense to monitor and traffic shape the different vlans (16 vlans in total)

      Any help would be appriciated

        This should be possible.
However i think you would need to add as many VLANs on the pfSense as you have VLANs on your trunk (for both sides).

We do what we must, because we can.

Each VLAN will be an interface, and the current stable version only supports traffic shaping between two interfaces.
