Multi-WAN through single NIC
-
Hello all,
I've recently moved my pfSense (1.2.3) instance from a VMWare environment to a single physical machine now.
My question is as follows:
If I connect my WAN NIC to a switch and then connect both of my (separate) WAN connections to the switch, is there any way I can have 2 separate logical NICs identifiable by pfSense? I'd love to be spared the trouble of trying to add a separate NIC for the 2nd WAN connection (since the physical machine is a laptop).
I've done something similar but not inside pfSense itself. When I used pfSense in VMWare, I would basically have my 2 virtual interfaces point to the same physical interface and then statically define my IPs against each interface inside pfSense.
Wondering if anything can be done to accomplish the same at the physical pfSense setup level.
Thanks in advance,

Thanks for the tip. Although, the forum post seems to assume that I want to set up a load balancing pool (which I don't). So for example, I'd want to route all my VPN traffic through one interface, and use the other for basic browsing.
Not sure if this is possible.

In this case its even easier.
All you need to do is create a static route for the Ip of your remote end pointing to you second gateway.Unless you're willing to buy a VLAN capable switch you wont be able to have two separate interfaces on the pfSense itself.
