Keyboard will not allow PFSense to boot
-
I have been having quite a bit of trouble with PFSense and getting it to boot with a keyboard attached. It will boot up flawless with a keyboard removed and then will run if I plug it in while its on, its USB, but if I try to boot the machine while the keyboard is attached I get a hard lock and it freezes. Does anyone know if there is an issue with an AMD Athlon II, socket AM3 2.9GHz (ADX245OCK23GQ) paired with a Gigabyte MA785GM-US2H motherboard. I mean its not an issue really to have ot hook up the keyboard after boot, rather just an issue of why is this true.

Try either enabling or disabling "USB legacy" mode in the BIOS.

What version of pfSense?

1.2.3-RELEASE

I had trouble with a AMD 780G based motherboard freezing on startup of pfSense 1.2.2. The problem went away with FreeBSD 7.2 and pfSense 1.2.3. Perhaps the AMD 785G chipset is too new for this sort of problem to have been shaken out in FreeBSD 7.2.
I suggest you lodge a FreeBSD problem report.
