Using putty or winscp to edit files?
-
why does pfsense not allow the editing of files with winscp? i can see the files are writeable by root but pfsense doesn't allow me to edit the files. obviously this can be done from the pfsense console so i'm thinking it is something to do editing from a remote pc for certain files?

You logged in as root?

logged in as root…..
try and edit /etc/crontab which has 644 group=wheel owner=root
and it won't allow me.
just had a thought though.... that maybe it's to do with my nanobsd as i'm running from an industrial cf -
The root file system is mounted read-only on nanobsd. This is a feature :)

You should not be editing files manually in the first place. They will be overwritten. There are tutorials on how to add cron jobs to the config.xml file. Grab a copy, put in your cron jobs and restore the config.
