Squid cache lifetime n dynamic site

i dunno put this topic where, i try put it here.

i have configure squid for pfsense, i set the cache to 20MB. i had 2 cases here, i need some advise.

case 1:
i try download winamp from winamps site. it about 9.8mb
i assume the download file will cache and save in squid harddisk.
after about 30 minutes finished, i try to redownload it. and wow, it save bro… the traffic just go to squid, and back to LAN.... thr 9.8mb of winamp finished about 7 seconds.
problem:
after a day, i try redownload winamp. and badly, the cache gone..... :(
it start from beginning download from winamps site. i also had try, to shutdown for a night, then re-test it, and try to make pfsense on for 24 hours, it just about same. the cache life time just only a day....

case 2:
i try to save cache file for downloading from dyanamic site. let say download.com (not rapidshare or megaupload).
problem:
why squid can not cache a file from the dynamic site ???

also a question, pfsense using squid 2.6.xx, can i upgrade it manually to 2.7.xx ? it looks like squid 2.7.xx more stable n reliable then 2.6.xx

hhmmm….

where can i put that code in pfsense ? manually or via WebGUI ???

thanks sartic, i got it work now, n i gonna test it for 1-2 days for downloaded file.
for static downloaded file, it work.
but, when i goto dynamic site, like download.com, using michaelboman script, it not work either.

i told u u have to read.
if u r expecting that squid will cache same file on other position of mirror site forget it.
and be sure that your lines r logically good as squid wants.

First of all those numbers on refresh pattern are not in seconds(its minutes). Although browser is in seconds but squids refresh pattern is in minutes.@xaviero:

Use storeurl rewrite feature of squid. The most efficient/effective way of caching dynamic contents (like youtube).

squids negative side of storeurl feature. vary content will miss(when squid restarted) with storeurl rewrite.

As i know this is just way to call external program.
I am using mikrotik 4 this. It should be nice that we finally see v2.7 of squid
