Watchdog Timeout, Intel NIC, 1.2.2
-
Hi all,
I'm having a problem with my router, pfSense 1.2.2. The network card is a four port Intel PCI-E card. Every 4-6 days, the firewall will freeze, and I'll have the following error messages on the console:kernel: em0: watchdog timeout
kernel: em0: watchdog timeout
kernel: em3: watchdog timeout
kernel: em3: watchdog timeout… (repeat)
I had this problem months ago when I was using a generic network card, and at the suggestion of threads like this one: http://forum.pfsense.org/index.php/topic,2769.msg17767/topicseen.html#msg17767 , I picked up this intel card with the hope that it would solve the problems. I've also tried the other things that the linked thread suggests (turn off ACPI, dedicate IRQ for the NIC).
Any suggestions?

It may be your MB and not the card. It seems that you indicated that you had a similar issue with a different card. I had 2 intel nics in an older board and randomly I would get the same. I switched pci slots and the same errors happened on the other card. I since replaced the MB and used the same cards and haven't had a problem since.

Did you replace with a different model motherboard? (different chipset, etc.)

yes, old board was 8 or 9 years old and worked for quite awhile before I started having these issues.
