Can't Ping Virtual IP

pfSense: 1.2.2
I created a CARP virtual IP of 192.168.9.253 on the LAN side. From within the LAN I wanted to ping it just to prove that it responds. However, unless I ping from one of the pfSense boxes I don't get a reply back. Any ideas?

Did you create a firewall rule to allow pings to this VIP?

I figured out what it was, but neglected to write it down. So as a result, I have no idea what I did! :(
