Upgrade path from 1.2-RELEASE to latest?
-
The last time I tried to upgrade from 1.2 to 2.0 the installation bombed out, and I've been hesitant to try again ever since. Ideally I'd like to just pull the upgrade down to my firewall and run it from the command line, but if I have to rebuild from CD ISO and import my config that way, I will. I'm just trying to avoid having to reconfigure my vpn, and all of my rules.

2.0 is not a "latest" release by any means. It is still in alpha stages of development.
Upgrading from 1.2-RELEASE to 1.2.2 or 1.2.3-RC should be very smooth.

This also covers my question then, about 1.2.2 -> 1.2.3RC1?
Should upgrade via console followed by re-install of all packages be sufficient then?
TIA,

That should work. You can upgrade however you like: console or WebGUI. Reinstall packages after and you should be fine.
As always, keep plenty of config backups and some install media handy just in case, but I haven't had one test (or live system) go wrong when upgrading along any part of the 1.2.x branch.
