Embedded install and packages
-
I decided to try switching from a 2.5" HD full install to a 4GB nanobsd install. I am expecting my 4GB sandisk CF card today. The only package I absolutely MUST have is havp - which should work, since it can be set to use a ramdisk for the tempfiles. I would also like siproxd, but that is not a must. Unfortunately, I have not seen how to tell what packages are useable without actually doing the install. Stay tuned.

There is no master list available, as most of the packages have not been tested. I have tested about half of them.
I have the testing results (so far) in a Google Docs spreadsheet:

Ah, cool. I will let you know how havp works…

Hmmm, I got the CF installed, booted, configured LAN and restored my HD config. All works except for having to reinstall packages like cron and siproxd. Now, to the problem: I cannot install havp, since it is not (apparently) on the list of embedded packages - I would love to test it, but I have no idea where to download it from. Any suggestions? Oh, also ntop is not on the list, which is fine with me, except it was installed before, and the services list on the dashboard says it is "not running". How do I clean up the detritus?

Does ntop not appear on the list of installed packages in that case?
If it does, you can just uninstall it. Otherwise, it can be quite tricky to clean that up.

sadly it is not showing up. what happened was: i booted from the nano 4gb image, and restored my HD config. it then tried to do something with packages but failed, since the WAN was not up (I was in my office connecting to the serial port on my windows workstation.)

There is probably not an easy way to fix that.
You may need to make a backup of the config, edit the ntop info out, and then restore the config.

Worked, thanks!
