I was also looking at a board something like this (more the Jetway ones, but I digress), but it does seem like the general consensus is that Intel based NICs are better than the Realtek ones with pfSense. With that said, there are some on this board that say Realtek works just fine with pfSense, so I'm not sure what to believe.
Because of that, I was looking at the

It's definitely more money, but it has the Intel NICs. Of course no wireless though, so it doesn't directly solve your problem, but it does have MiniPCIe, so you could add WiFi that way.
What does everyone else think? Stay with Intel NICs or does Realtek work just fine?

The problem with Realtek NICs relate to some specific models - search the forum and you'll find more. AFAIK their Gbit NICs are generally ok - not as good as the Intel server NICs, but still good NICs.
That said, it looks like support for the 8111 chipset (the one on that board) is relatively fresh in FreeBSD, possibly only in FreeBSD 8 - see here. You probably want to look at a different motherboard.

FreeBSD 7.2 will run the RTL8111 fine. I've had my D945GCLF2 running pfSense fine with the onboard RTL8111 since 1.2.3RC2.

I am running the same board with no issues. Also added a dual 100mbit intel card for an additional 2 nics.

Finally buy this plate and works well. :)
Also has dual 100mbit intel card, and wifi Mini PCI-e AR5007egGreetings
