Anyone know a way to create a "WORKING" VPN tunnel?
-
I have been messing around with IPSec for over 2 weeks. I had it working once between my PfSense box and my client's VPN box but I now can't get it to work at all. I think I've had every error under the bleeeping sun and Open VPN doesn't seem like much of a option for point to point VPN unless someone knows of a good "how to" to get such a job done.
Bottom line, I need to setup a point to point VPN tunnel and at this point I don't think PfSense is up to the task and I'm asking for help in finding a solution, PLEASE!

I connect IPsec tunnels to all kinds of devices from pfSense (other pfSense boxes, Cisco routers, PIX, sonicwalls, Linksys SOHO boxes, watchguard boxes, etc) it does work if you have all the settings right.
OpenVPN also does a good job of site-to-site, in some ways it is even better than IPsec since it's routable. I use both (at the same time) from my house to work for different tasks and I haven't had any problems with 1.2.3-RC3.
There is a lot of info on the Doc wiki, but the information in the book is even better. It should be available for ordering in the next week or so.

Ahh, a book on PfSense huh? That would be great!
Well could you point me in the direction of a doc that can help me get OpenVPN setup since it seems I'm having so many problems with IPSec and does IPSec work best on 1.2.2 or .3-rc3?

I would be using 1.2.3-RC3 (actually, whatever is the latest snapshot from 1.2.3) right now. It's extremely close to release so it's quite stable.
As for VPN docs, there are some on the Wiki, though I haven't gone over them to see how accurate/up to date they are:

Well thanks for that info. I tried to setup Open VPN but I'm getting an error there too. Since it's a openvpn error I'll post it up on openvpn.
