Using kldload in pfsense 1.2.2
-
Hi,
Any one knows how to use kldload in pfsense? i am trying to load the igb intel driver, but i got an error: kldload: can't load if_igb.ko: No such file or directory
Any ideas?!
Thank you all
JL
-
I think igb wasn't added until 7.1. 1.2.2 is based on 7.0
Your best bet would be to use 1.2.3RC3 or a recent snapshot. Then you don't need to kldload anything. I've used kldload in a few situations, but it was with drivers that were in FreeBSD and not pfSense. In that case, you can copy the module from a stock FreeBSD install to pfSense and set it to load the module on startup. -
Hi dotdash ,
Thank you for your reply! I wil try your sugestion, i will copy the module from a stock FreeBSD install to pfSense and set it to load the module on startup, if it results i will tell you.
Once again, thank you
JL

I was actually suggesting you use 1.2.3RC3 instead of 1.2.2.
Trying to load a 7.1/7.2 module on 7.0 (1.2.2) may not work correctly.
1.2.3RC3 should work 'out of the box'. -
If the NICs are not found by pfSense 1.2.3-RC3 please post the startup output so we can better understand what is happening.

Hi everybody,
Here is the output of dmesg:

est0: <enhanced speedstep="" frequency="" control="">on cpu0</enhanced></acpi>The failure to attach a PCI bus (1st item) likely means any PCI devices downstream of the bridge (pcib1) won't get seen. If your Intel dual port card is downstream of the PCI bridge reporting the failure then thats most likely why they are not seen. Can you put the card in another slot?
The checksum failures (2nd item) mean its likely some ACPI data is being ignored. (Off the top of my head I don't know the significance of those reported tables.)
Suggestion:
Is there a more recent BIOS for the motherboard? If so, install it and see if it makes things better. If that doesn't help (or you have the most recent BIOS), startup with "-v" option (v for verbose, more extensive reporting). Early in the startup there is a brief pause where its possible to type FreeBSD loader commands. There type "boot -v" (without the quotes). This MIGHT yield some clues on why the pci bridge attach fails.

wallabybob, thank you for your reply.
I already validate the version o BIOS and i have the most recent version…
Related with the other test, insert the card in another slot, i only have one pci-e slot available.Today i will try the boot -v and i will give you some feed back.
Once again,
Thank youJLN
