Why are there 2 names for the 2GB version?

Is it normal the writing to a CF could take more then 20 minutes?

Pfsense 2.x on Alix 2d13 (dual wan with failover).

Might depend on the history of the card. Writing using the dd utility generally goes quicker with a larger block size but 20 mins does seem a long time even without a larger block size.

If you are writing the CF card under FreeBSD using dd, control-T will report the progress.

I think they just changed the naming convention.  As I recall, the upper case letters went away some weeks back.

Depends on how fast your CF is and how fast your writer is. With an old USB 1.1 writer it can take a lot longer than that. With a good USB 2.0 writer and a decently fast CF, 10 minutes or so is about what it takes for 2 GB.
