Assigning a dns address to a local webserver ?
-
hi friends, im new to pfSense. and im noob in networking. so if my post is in a wrong area then please don't mind, i don't know which topic i should have chosen for my question.
i have a network of some 20 users in my town. im using pfSense on my main server.
my main server ip is 192.168.3.1.
i want to host a webserver for my local network. webserver ip is 192.168.3.171. i have hosted it and forwarded ports also, its working good but user have to type the ip of webserver to connect to it. i want to assign an address to my webserver that would be awailable to my local users only. let say i want my user to write www.home.nct or something like this in their browser to connect to my webserver.
i don't know how can i do that in pfSense. please guide me soon.i'll be very thankful :)
btw pfSense if a perfect OS for a server, thanks to the pfSense team for providing such a nice software :) -
Services –> DNS-forwarder
Below you can enter names and the IP to which they should resolve.
This requires that your clients use the pfSense as DNS server. -
