Any way to fix broken FXP drivers in FreeBSD 7.2 + pfSense 1.2.3-RELEASE?
-
Short of upgrading from pfSense 1.2.3-RELEASE to pfSense 2.0.0-ALPHA, is there any way to replace / fix the broken FXP drivers in FreeBSD 7.2 (pfSense 1.2.3) so I can turn hardware checksum offloading back on and NOT have connectivity issues? Or might we see a maintenance release on 1.2.3 that fixes this? Thanks. :)

Is there a reason you are opposed to running with checksums turned off?
Are you seeing some kind of performance degradation?

No, I have not noticed any performance degradation at this point. I suppose I could swap out the Intel NICs for something else, but I'm partial to the quality that Intel NICs are known for. ;)

I guess I don't see what is so bad about running with hardware checksums disabled. There is nothing inherently bad about that configuration. If you aren't having any problems with hardware checksums off, why not just let it be? :)

If you are not seeing a reduction in performance or a hike in CPU usage then its not worth fighting.
