"Monit" package for pfSense?
-
Looking thru the forums yielded no direct hits. Does anyone know if the "monit" package is available for pfSense? According to the monit main site (http://freshmeat.net/projects/monit/, an official release for FreeBSD already exists.
I can definitely use monit when running user-land applications (haproxy, etc) to ensure the application automatically restarts in case of failure.

If you want to experiment with monit on pfSense you can from shell type
pkg_add -r ftp://ftp4.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/ports/i386/packages-7-stable/All/monit-5.0.3.tbz -
Thanks! That is a great start!!!

I get a no address record on that one….

strip off the leading http: from the link.

Hmm I think some anti spam stuff kicks in or it's a SMF bug, cause when I edit my post it shows the correct link :) it is ofc a ftp address.

Could this be an option for the "official" packages on PFSense??? So it can be installed by users via the WebGui??

I certainly hope so!
The only reason I am not using haproxy exclusively on my firewall is the inability to get notified if haproxy dies (and get automatically restarted).
I have enough Linux/Unix background to maintain the package - just not in FreeBSD. But, I would be willing to be a tester…
