Web Admin slow on Firefox
-
Using Firefox 3.6.3for a couple of days and Java 6rel19 as of this morning. pfSense 1.2.3 rel. on all routers.
While trying to admin via the webconfigurator things have become reeeeeaaaally slow starting today…
Using I.E. things are fine...
Anyone else? Searching I find nothing...
Its not the routers...
This is a browser issue...
Throughput is fine.

Have you tried Opera? It seems to me that Opera uses significantly less resources (CPU, virtually memory) than Firefox. However both seem to gradually grow in consumption until it becomes necessary to restart them to recover the VM and CPU.
I haven't tried Firefox 3.6.3 yet.

Do you have the Dashboard package installed? If so, what widgets are you using?
-
No dashboard. I vhosts package installed but removing it did not help. This seems to have started right after the Java update…
Very basic install of PfSense...

It could be related to browser add-ons or plugins like Java, but it's hard to say. You can try to run firefox in safe mode and see if it's faster.

Never thought about that…
That did the trick...
Removed Java Console just now and solved the issue...
Thanks

This problem has reared its ugly head again.
No java console installed. No other addons…
Ill post it if I find out...

Try the Firefox safe mode to be sure.

i have the java console with no problems, yours may be out of date and you need to upgrade java.

It's firefox. You may have to install from scratch, instead of upgrading.
Looks like that fella at the hacking convention knock them one hard slap when he uncovered a bug that could have lead to a compromise and hacked a machine via firefox in a matter of minutes.
Firefox has fixed the problem, but I suspect it'll be a little while longer to get all other issues resolved with freezing up when doing certain things, etc.

Update to a latest version of FF and update latest Java. Chrome works perfect with no sweat.

Yikes! I need to take notes. This has gone away and I can't remember what Ive done in the last few weeks… Ive been using I.E. to admin the router so did not notice it go away.
Ill compare notes with anyone who may stumble across this later. Hopefully no one! :P
