      I have read "http://forum.pfsense.org/index.php/topic,16048.msg83864.html#msg83864" & "http://doc.pfsense.org/index.php/I_locked_myself_out_of_the_WebGUI%2C_help!#Forgotten_Password_with_Locked_Console"

The problem is that I do not get the boot menu (ASCII pfSense logo).  After hitting F1, I hit 4 continuously then I get a "boot: " prompt.  Continuing to boot only gets me to the login: prompt.

I booted from a FreeBSD install disk and used the Fixit option; from there mounted the pfSense drive and tried to run rc.initial.password only to get crypto lib errors.

      Suggestions?

Embedded install?  Have you tried a serial console?

Sounds like something very wrong is going on, possibly a corrupt install.

Have you tried an upgrade to 1.2.3?
