how would I set up a proxy arp VIP for an IP address not in my subnet on the lan port. This is to allow a laptop to connect to my network with a static ip on the the nic and not have to change the settings. Is this possable with PF 1.2.3??  Or am i looking in the wrong direction. Thanks for the help.

To allow a device to be routed, the pfSense needs an additional routable IP on the LAN interface.
You can not do this with a VIP.
On the wiki is a howto how to add an additional subnet to your LAN, or search the forum.
