Setup with two pfsense machines for troubleshooting.
-
Hello,
I recently set up a pfsense router at home at the recommendation of a friend. I like it a lot. However, it will freeze up periodically and require a hard reboot. My friend and I have tried troubleshooting most of the hardware: I've checked the RAM, swapped network cards, changed the power supply, beat up the CPU. At this point I'm out of big ideas.
What I'd like to do is install pfsense on a second machine and run them both at the same time to try and isolate a problem and minimize the disruption for everyone else. Unfortunately, I don't know enough about networking to know how I should set this up. I have a modem, a 24 port switch, and the two routers. Would I need to set up WAN on both of the routers, or just the main router?
Thank you.

You'd need to setup something like this:

Thank you very much. If I run into trouble setting this up, which board would be best to post a question on?

There is a board just for CARP here, that would be the best place.
