      Hello,

I am new here and i have to admit that i dont have a lot of experience with Pfsense.

Can i install Pfsense version 1.2.3 on 256mb Compact Flash disk? In the download section i can find images for 512mb and up.

I am sorry if this is a question that somebody else has made already. I searched in the forum but i dint see anything.

      Thanks in advance.

Min flash size is 512MB. THe different downloadable images are for corresponding sized flash cards.

It may be possible to make your own customized 256 MB image that has a single slice, but it probably won't be able to support upgrades.  I don't know the details of how to make such an image, though.

It wouldn't be worth the effort. 512MB-4GB CF cards are extremely cheap. Any time devoted to making an image that small would be worth more than the cost of a larger card.

I know this is an old topic, but its the first one that comes up in Google. 128mb is what it says on the minimum requirements page for pfsense. If 512 is now the minimum, shouldn't the site be updated? I have a 256 that I would love to use, if its possible at all…

I updated the page to reflect the current size limit.

It's not possible or practical to use anything less than 512MB, and even then that's a stretch. Given how cheap CF media is, even for 4GB cards, there's no reason to cling to (probably old) small CF cards. Newegg has 4GB cards for $12-20. Well worth the price.
