Anyone thinking of setting up on a GuruPlug Server
-
Has anyone setup pfsense on http://www.globalscaletechnologies.com/p-32-guruplug-server-plus.aspx ? Or the first model, sheevaplug? Well the first doesn't come out until april but I figured someone might have gotten a review unit by now.
Wonder if how compatible it would be with the hardware and how it would run on it.
They claim is pulls about 5 watts of power
From the site

I believe there s a FreeBSD port to the Sheeva. That would probably handle most of the devices in the Guru EXCEPT the WiFi chip.
I've ordered a Guru plug to ee what I can do with it.

Oh cool, didn't see that post.

wallabybob - any update on this? Were you successful in getting the GuruPlug working with pfSense?

Patience. A little while ago I received an email to say my GuruPlug wouldn't ship until end of April so its likely to be at least three weeks until I hold one in my hand.

We eagerly await the result for when you do get it, good luck on the project!

Looks like there is a port for FreeBSD 8 & 9…
http://www.openplug.org/plugwiki/index.php/Category:FreeBSDLooks problematic though…

I'm still waiting for my GuruPlug Server to turn up.

I'm going to buy one of those. I have e-mailed the company and asked them about the product. They should be available soon.
I wanted to wait until the Plug Computer 3.0 comes out in the Fall. They are going to bump up the processor speed to 2.0GHz.
It may be a really long time before FreeBSD can be installed on it so I'm going to install Debian. -

There are reports that FreeBSD already runs on the Guruplug's close cousin, the Sheeva: http://plugcomputer.org/plugwiki/index.php/FreeBSD_9.x_%289-current%29_Plug_Computer_Distribution
